Malibu is probably the best known of Los Angeles' beach areas, and is certainly the most exclusive. Here, beachfront and sea view properties can change hands for millions of dollars, and many of the people buying them are wealthy industrialists, and celebrities. If you don't have huge amounts of cash on hand to spend on beachfront real estate in Los Angeles, the chances are that you will have to look somewhere else for your little slice of paradise.

Venice Beach Living

Thanks to its reputation for offering a bohemian lifestyle and profusion of thrift stores and head shops, the common perception of Venice Beach is that the price of real estate in Los Angeles hippie heaven is low, and to a certain extent this is right, although the downside of life in Venice Beach is that there isn't a great deal of real estate actually on the beachfront in this particular area due to most of it being given over to shops, and arcades. Indeed, most real estate available in Venice Beach is some way inland, but generally within walking distance of the beach, and it does offer easy access to the surf.

Marina Del Ray Real Estate

Wth a spectacular location within easy reach of the main downtown areas of Los Angeles, real estate in the upmarket Marina del Ray Area trades at a premium, and youw ill have to negotiate hard to get the best prices in this area of the city. Popuar options include condos overlooking the sea, but the elegant villas on hthe secluded coast road are off limits to all but the very wealthy.

Santa Monica is a great choice for anyone looking for beachfront real estate within easy reach of the main commercial areas of Los Angeles. There are homes and condos available at to suit all budgets, although at the lower end of the market, you may have to make do with a partial sea view or less space.

Outside Los Angeles

If you are prepared to live outside the city, beachfront real estate in quieter areas such as Las Flores, or further up the Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura or Oxnard is perhaps the best option open to you. Here you can enjoy much lower prices, although getting to the city can take a lot longer than it would if you lived closer.
